I feel really hyper and excited about going to the residential on 16 November.

I am so looking forward to staying and working at the Hilton Hotel. I am also looking forward to drinking a latte at the Hilton.

Writing the consent forms
Made a dvd about the residential to help people decide if they want to come
Practising 1:1 interviews at Weston super Mare (thank you N Somerset People First)
Research advisory Group meetings
Visit to the hotel
Picked who was coming
Wrote a safety plan for myself
Wrote flash cards for my p.a. to use if I need help remembering things.

Davey Bennett; ready for the research residential

I have been working hard to prepare for the three interviews I am going to do at the residential. I have been practising a lot.

I helped with the questionnaires. I made sure the questions are good and in easy read words. I also did the consent forms.

I visited the hotel with the team. I made sure I knew where the rooms were for the interviews. The manager James was very helpful.

I feel happy and relaxed about the residential. I am looking forward to the work and getting more experience.

I am also looking forward to the food, the pool and the quiz. I am looking forward to meeting new people.

Samantha Flood - it's the research residential this week

Samantha Flood PhotoThis week is the research residential. We have been getting ready for it since we started last year. I am looking forward to it.

I will be doing the focus groups. I will do 7 in 2 days. I am doing the focus groups with Joyce and David (my p.a.)

50 people with learning disabilities from across South Wales are coming to do it.

We will do the residential at the Hilton Hotel in Newport. The first day is Wednesday 16 November. We will stay until 18 November.

The hotel is big. It looks comfy. Everyone there is very friendly. We visited and everyone made us very welcome. All the bedrooms are big. There’s a swimming pool and a gym.

I am looking forward to doing the focus groups. I will meet a lot of new people.

There will be a quiz one night. I am looking forward to that.

We’ve gone over the focus group loads of times. I feel ready.

Sending out invitations for research residential

Mel madly working

co researcher with Looking into Abuse research project

Mel’s Blog 8 Aug 2011

This morning we were packing all the envelopes ready to send away to people first groups around south Wales. (these are the invitations for our exciting research residential for Looking into Abuse)

I think the day went really quick (time flies when having fun) and I think it is a good way to work.

I practiced the 1 to 1 interviews today, I felt it went ok but sometimes it could be really upsetting for the person we interview or even the researchers that are doing the interviews.
